Are there certain people in your life that really “get your goat”? Have you ever spent time with your family and felt like you were gonna lose your mind if you didn’t leave right away? Do you seem to attract the same challenging situations in different forms over and over (the same type of unhealthy relationships or financial problems or persistent physical or emotional health conditions)?
If so, I want to tell you all about a technique that I’ve been using successfully for years. Some of you may have heard of this technique, it’s called “tapping.” It is also called EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or TFT (Thought Field Therapy). While EFT and TFT differ in their approach, the underlying principles are similar. Tapping on acupressure points energizes and reconnects the acupuncture meridians. (Meridians are rivers of measurable electromagnetic energy that flow through your body). When this energy flows properly we are healthy. When it gets stuck physical or emotional issues can develop.
The idea is that as we go through life, we have experiences (usually the challenging kind) that can create short circuits in the flow of energy. Over time these short circuits can create issues in our mental and physical health. This concept is fundamental to acupuncture but where tapping goes a step further is in the realm of changing the way we perceive our life and our past – changing our beliefs.
You see, our perception of life is everything. This isn’t woo-woo stuff anymore. Cellular biologist Bruce Lipton’s groundbreaking book The Biology of Belief shows how our cells change biochemically to higher levels of functioning when our thoughts change. When our thoughts change we experience an upgrade in our physiology. This impacts us, physically, emotionally and energetically.
Using tapping we can, in essence, rewrite the energetic imprint (and thus the physical and emotional imprint) that was created by challenging and traumatic experiences earlier in our life. We can also rewrite any other limiting beliefs (about health, money, relationships, etc.) that were handed down to us through our experience and even through our ancestral line (that will be the topic of another blog). This shift then has a tremendously positive impact on every aspect of our health and well-being.
Tapping can be used alone or in conjunction with acupuncture to bring about dramatic changes in your life. A wonderful aspect of this work is that it can be done over the phone or via SKYPE or Facetime.
There has been a great deal of research done on tapping proving its benefits for a variety of issues from depression to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and others.
Tapping is a simple yet powerful way to create positive and lasting benefits for your physical and emotional health. If you’re struggling with a health or emotional issue or a recurring pattern or theme in your life that you would like to shift and wonder if you could benefit from this kind of work, drop me a line.
To Your Health!
